Mmmm

Watching Harry Potter and drinking homemade butterbeer. Yum!

Recipe: (Cold)

2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
6 oz Creme Soda

2 oz heavy cream
1/2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
Sprinkle of Ginger or Cinnamon

Recipe: (Hot)

2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
6 oz Creme Soda
1 T Butter
1 T Brown Sugar

2 oz heavy cream
1/2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
Sprinkle of Ginger or Cinnamon

For the cold recipe, simply add the first set of ingredients to some ice and shake to chill.  Drain from the ice into a glass (leaving room at the top for the cream).  In a mixing bowl whip the heavy cream, Butterscotch Schnapps and ginger or cinnamon until it forms stiff peaks, but not as thick as whipped cream.  Pour cream in a layer over the top of the beverage mixture and enjoy!

For the hot recipe place the butter into a small saucepan and melt over low heat.  Add cream soda until it is warm then dissolve in brown sugar.  Take the mixture off the heat and add the Schnapps.  Mix well and pour into a glass (leaving room at the top for the cream).  In a mixing bowl whip the heavy cream, Butterscotch Schnapps and ginger or cinnamon until it forms stiff peaks, but not as thick as whipped cream.  Pour cream in a layer over the top of the beverage mixture and enjoy!

C-17 Flying High

Did this painting tonight at a bottles n brushes class. I love it! It's a C-17 plane over the Arthur Ravenel bridge in Charleston.

Fun with hair

With my new haircut I can be Wolverine, Justin Beiber or Carlisle (from Twilight). Haha so fun.

My husband is awesome!

He had flowers sent to me! They were on my doorstep when I got home. :-)

Pointilism

Did a pointillist drawing (drawing using nothing but dots) based on a picture I took! This was all freehand so it's obviously not perfect, but I like it.

For the HP nerd in me :-)

Productivity at its finest!

I mowed the lawn this morning, trimmed a bunch of bushes, raked everything up and watered the garden.  While I was out there I also gave some kid directions through the neighborhood.  Then I showered (because after being outside I was pretty gross).  After the shower I made/ate lunch, did a load of laundry and started my clam chowder that I am making for my dinner (and probably dinner for a couple nights).

After a brief break I sat down at my computer and made 5 instructional entries to my photography blog.  Wanna see?  www.pbkassignments.blogspot.com

Child of the 90s

I just came across this page talking about toys of the 90s.  I had just recently been talking about POGs and the girl I was talking to was only 2 years younger than me and had no idea what I was talking about.  I thought maybe it was a localized thing, but this totally shows that it wasn't just me!  I also miss that Nickelodeon Gak and Tomagatchis!

Current Reading

I just downloaded "Throne of Fire" by Rick Riordan to my Kindle.  First off, I have to say that the Kindle is the best invention in the universe.  Anyway, I love Rick Riordan's books.  He has the Percy Jackson series which is all about Greek mythology, the Heroes of Olympus series which merges Roman and Greek mythology and then the Kane Chronicles (which Throne of Fire is part of) which is all about Egyptian mythology.  So far I am about 45% through the book and I just love it.  There is action and adventure as well as humor and lots of information about ancient Egyptians and their stories and Gods.  Love it!

Music OCD

I've been going completely OCD on my iTunes.  I am going through and putting album artwork with EVERYTHING.  I tried the "get album artwork" function but there are so many that I copied from CDs over the years that iTunes doesn't seem to recognize.  It is making me feel more organized but it is taking ten-thousand forevers.  It's making me feel more than a little bit like a crazy person.  Ah well, what else is new?

Books

I love to read.  If I could read all the time, I probably would.  The biggest problem I have is that I get really into a series or a particular writer, then I read all of the books and have none left.  Then I am left with trying to find something completely different to start reading.  Most recently these are the books I've read (plus a few thrown in that everyone should read):

Recent Reads:

Millenium Series (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Girl who Played with Fire, Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest)

House of Night Series (Marked is the only one I've read so far)

Must Reads:

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series (5 books) And Heroes of Olympus Series (1 book so far)- Rick Riordan

Harry Potter Series (7 books) - J.K. Rowling

Looking Glass Wars Series (3 books)- Frank Beddor

Georgia Nicholson Series (There are 10 of them)- Louise Rennison

Uglies Series (4 books) - Scott Westerfeld

Hunger Games Series (3 books)- Suzanne Collins

Once Upon a Time Books - Various Authors - These are short re-tellings of various fairy tales, sometimes only loosely based on the original story and sometimes more closely.  Some of my favorites are: Beauty Sleep, The Night Dance, Sunlight and Shadow and Golden

I have also read: The Southern Vampire Mysteries series and all of the Twilight Books.  These are for sure guilty pleasures.  The Twilight series is entertaining, but not high literature for sure.  The Southern Vampire Mysteries are Romance Novels mixed with the supernatural.  I'm pretty much a fan of anything related to Greek Mythology and/or Fairy Tales.  I love dystopian novels as well as some Sci-fi (love some old Robert Heinlein).

Stumble

Have you tried StumbleUpon?  If not, and you have time to waste on the internet, Google it!

Music

I've noticed lately that my taste in music is really changing.  Actually, I don't know if changing is the right word, as much as I am just finding more new artists that I like who are very different than my old favorites.

In high school I flip-flopped between "Pop-Punk" such as Bowling for Soup, Simple Plan and The Donnas (my sister HATED when I played The Donnas in the car so I did it anytime she was making me mad or I didn't want to talk) and Hip-hop/Rap including Project Pat and Nelly.  Once I hit college I still listened to a lot of Hip-hop, but I also re-visited a lot of Classic Rock I'd heard from my mom as a child.  I also was introduced to Country music around that time.

Generally, there are very few music genres that I don't like at all.  I am not a fan of Metal or Opera (but I love Classical when there aren't lyrics), but otherwise I probably have a little of everything floating around on my computer/iPod.

Some of my most recent favorites (They don't go together so much, but who cares?):

Disclaimer: I haven't watched most of these videos, I'm just recommending the songs :-)

Uncle Kracker - Good to be Me (Most of the "Happy Hour" Album isn't bad)

Taylor Swift - Mean (Again, most of the "Speak Now" album is good)

Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart, Take Me Back

P!nk - Raise Your Glass

Nelly - Move That Body

Mike Posner - Bow Chicka Wow Wow (This video is pretty funny)

Jessie J - Mostly just her style is pretty awesome.  Don't have a specific song...

Jaron - Pray For You (One of those things that sounds like a love song until you listen to the lyrics...)

Bruno Mars - Count on Me, Marry You (This is the Glee cover but there isn't a video for the actual song), Lazy Song, Just the Way You Are, and especially Runaway Baby

Britney Spears - Til the World Ends, Hold it Against Me

Avril Lavigne - Generally not one of my favorites out there, but I'm a big fan of the general feel of her "Goodbye Lullaby" album
